Welcome to Honduras

We arrived and are now getting used to the heat and being wet all the time!
Through the love of our Christian brothers and sisters we have been able to partly furnish our house with most of the main items and we are very grateful to all.

Our family has settled remarkably quickly into Honduran life, and are enjoying serving God here in Choluteca. We want to thank you all for the huge encouragement you have been on this fantastic journey, starting with the prayers of Julies parents Brenda and Les, then at Christchurch, where we came to know the Lord as our saviour, then on to St Johns and Costa Rica for training in Theology and Spanish and finally here, home. Without your prayers, love and support this would not be possible.

To see our children sharing the Gospel with a bunch of street kids is something special and we are sure that God will and in fact is using them to reach people for him.

This week we were able to attend an event for families infected or affected by AIDS held by the Mayor and his wife most of the children were with grandma only as mum and dad had died of this epidemic which is now hitting Latin and Central America with great force. Again it was a pleasure to help here and see our children interact with the children there.

Loren has started teaching at the Gran Commission school and Casey is enjoying his new school.

Julie is busy writing up a programme to support families in their own homes who are infected and I am busy organising strategies for work to commence late October.

Ian was fortunate with Pastor Giovanni and his wife Iris to visit three large churches in the USA, these churches invited us and paid all expenses in order that we could share about the projects in Choluteca. The visit was a huge success, 15 new children were sponsored onto a feeding programme ( not part of Casa Hogar) and many people have pledged support for Casa Hogar, we are currently in talks with the Pastors from the churches and these people to see how they can help in the future.

Prayer Points:

  • Praise to God for the funds that have allowed us to buy necessary items for our home, He is so good.
  • Thanks to God that hearts were touched in the USA and that help has been offered.
  • Thanks to God that our family has settled so quickly.
  • Thanks to God for the way He is using our children to reach people for Him.
  • Thanks to God for dispersing Hurricane Felix.
  • Pray for those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Felix
  • That God continues to use us.
  • That we continue to make good contacts, so far we have one group of infected people who we can work with and share the Gospel, one of the lady's is willing to have this in her home. Please pray for her ( Sonia) and her family as the stigma is so big this could affect her life by having the group in her home.
  • That help is received for Casa Hogar and that work can commence as planned in October.
  • We thank God for His provision for us as a family and please pray for His continued blessing so we can complete our home.

Blessings in Christ, The Fawcett's.

This is Lorens big day!

She has graduated from school in Costa Rica, under the North American Education System.

Future plans for Loren:

Loren is to teach English at the Great Commission Church in Choluteca and is looking forward to helping develop the HIV/AIDS education system with Julie, that will help alleviate the stigma and discrimination that causes so much unnecessary pain to those who are already suffering.

Loren wishes to reach those who do not know God by an evangelistic outreach of Christian dance, which is her gift from God, she wants to do this by opening a dance studio, which she hopes will also bring children in off the streets.
